OUR PHILOSOPHY
Lions Basketball Camp at Vanguard University is for boys and girls ages 5-14 (Entering grades K-8) who are looking for an entirely unique atmosphere that transcends the typical camp experience. Our campers will not only be coached, trained, and molded into better basketball players through top-notch skill instruction, but will also be taught and encouraged to develop positive character traits that will translate to everyday life. The values displayed and taught by the Vanguard Basketball staff are Biblically based and specifically targeted to molding our campers into young men and women who will have a tremendous positive impact on their friends and family, neighborhoods, schools and communities. The camps are founded on Christian values and principles, although campers from all faiths attend. Every child is one that we value and honor, and we firmly believe that each camper will leave Lions Basketball camp as a leader, with the confidence, integrity, and enthusiasm essential for success on and off the court.

Welcome to the Freed Center for Leadership and Service, the new home for Lions Basketball Camp and Vanguard University Athletics! Opening in summer of 2024, The Freed Center is a 64,000 square foot dynamic athletics and learning facility guaranteed to create an unmatched experience for all campers. We will also utilized the Waugh Student Center for Dining as well as the Heath Forum (Campus Rec gym) along with various other outdoor and classroom spaces on campus.

We love the number 3! Camp Runs 9am - 4pm Tuesday through Thursday with lunch provided in our award-winning on campus dining commons. 3 Days, 3 Focuses: 1) The triple threat position (Dribble, Pass, Shoot)2) 3 keys to being a great defensive player3) 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 competition3 on 3 is the greatest build-up progression to learning to play basketball at a high level. More offensive touches with the ball, spacing, scoring actions, defensive awareness, etc… From youth coaching all the way to the NBA, 3 on 3 competition is one of the greatest ways to teach the game. Will be complete instruction with ½ court competition and transition drills to learn all facets of the game. Perfect for ALL ages, with beginners being taught the building blocks of basketball and advanced players being grouped appropriately for more advanced teaching and skill development.Early drop off (8am) and late pick-up (5pm) are available for families who need that flexibility with work.
Day Camp Runs 9am - 4pm Monday through Thursday with lunch provided in our award-winning on campus dining commons. FRIDAY FUN DAY is OPTIONAL for an additional charge, and runs 9am-4pm. Early drop off (8am) and late pick-up (5pm) are available for families who need that flexibility with work.
Friday Fun Days!!
Fridays are reserved for those who choose to sign up. Friday Fun Day, like Monday through Thursday camp, runs 9am-4pm, and we have made this available as an option for kids who want to finish the week with a ton of fun, or parents who need an option as they work on Fridays. It is guaranteed to be a blast as kids will participate in basketball competitions, water games (slip n slide, water balloons), yard game competitions (frisbee, Kan Jam, kickball, relays, etc...), and other exciting activities. Lunch is NOT provided for Friday Fun Day so please pack a lunch.
CAMP STORE
Choose from new and exclusive VU Basketball apparel at camp. This year, the camp store will be open at camp at the conclusion of each day. There will be no pre-sale online of jerseys, shorts, sweatshirts, basketballs and other gear, but we will have everything there!
Note: If you need a basketball for camp, we will have them available for purchase for $15.
